    Church History

For many years, Sunday school and church services were held in the local school house. As the years rolled by and the town grew larger, the need of a real school was felt. As a result of the untiring efforts of the minister in charge, Rev. David B. Ackley, the Rosenhayn Methodist Episcopal Church was finally built in 1884.

On January 23, 1884, a plot of land consisting of just one acre was bought for the church property. The cost was $75. To build the church $600 was borrowed and in the due process of time was paid in full.

The cornerstone was laid on June 24, 1884.  By July 7th, the frame was raised and on Sunday, October 19, 1884 the church was dedicated. Since its dedication the church has had forty-four pastors and they usually served a two-point charge with Laurel Hill and then Woodruff until Rev. Linwood Sharp came in 1992.  Our current pastor, Mike Denelsbeck has been with us since 2013.
